Live Panel Events

Panel Name:

The climate crisis is not gender neutral:
How we can eradicate the inequality women and girls face in the fight against climate change.

While the climate crisis impacts us all, its effects will be greatest on the world’s most vulnerable populations, especially women and girls. UNDP estimates that 80% of people already displaced by climate change are women, and 70% of the world’s poor are also women. As climate disasters become more frequent, they will be at increased risk of homelessness, poverty, gender-based violence, and disease.

Our panel will explore the challenges and the opportunities for women to level the playing field when it comes to leadership in developing climate change solutions, and adaptation and mitigation strategies.

Panel Name:

Amazônia is the way to our future:
Why the world’s largest rainforest is essential to us all.

The world’s largest source of biodiversity, the Amazon spans nine countries and is home to one in ten of all known species on Earth. The Amazon – and tropical forests like it – are highly effective at absorbing the carbon that fuels global warming. But recent research has shockingly shown that because of deforestation and other human related activities, parts of the Amazon are now emitting more carbon than they capture.

Our panel will explore how climate change and nature loss are interconnected and must be addressed together, and the implications for world leaders, businesses, communities, and individuals alike.
